As of this year, Miami is also the home to the largest bronze sculpture of Greek mythology in the world. It was unveiled at the end of January, 2010, and is a work that’s 26 feet high and weighs over 17,000 pounds.
A sculpture like that is a little hard to ignore, and it’s made for seeing. It’s the work of Spanish artist Gines Serran , whose mix of visual art and anthropology have won awards and commissions for a few decades. This work is intended to be a kind of partner to the Statue of Liberty. Called the Union of the World, it’s inspired by the possibility of world peace, and is a remarkable thing to behold.
