Making New Friends in Formentera

October 19th, 2009

This morning at breakfast, we hooked up with another couple who were going to Formentera Island for the day. We met them last night at a club and we had a great time with them, we decided to spend another day with them on Formentera also. After breakfast, we took the ferry over to the island. Once we were aboard, we all crashed on the seats. We did party hardy last night after all. It only took 45 minutes for the ferry to reach the island.

We decided to go to a Formentera car rental. We noticed the moped rental shop too, but not everyone was thrilled about doing the moped thing. We first drove to Platja lljetes beach to hang out. It was sunny and warm, which was great since it was the first sunny day for a whole week. It was a perfect day at the beach. We noticed a lot of bicyclers riding along a dirt path. That looked like fun, but all of us were still so burnt out from last nights follies.

There were tons of people here at the beach. It was hard to find a place to park, but we were one of those luck people that just approached a car that was leaving! Otherwise we’d probably have to park a mile down the road. About 4 hours on the beach, relaxing on the lounges provided and enjoying each others company. The sun beating down on us felt good, we all got into the water once or twice. It was so beautiful here. Luckily we brought a water proof camera and we swam around taking all kinds of pictures. There was a yacht anchored not too far from the beach, so we swam out and when the yacht people noticed us they invited us up to hang out. We actually found the yacht people even more interesting than the couple we were with! But, we didn’t want to be rude, so we only got a quick tour of the yacht and we dove back in the water and swam back to the beach.

The couple we were with wanted to do some more exploring. But, before that, we grabbed a bite at this little beach restaurant. The island is small, but very beautiful. It was getting late, so we returned the rental and grabbed the ferry back to Ibiza (). We were still having so much fun that we made more arrangements to hook up with our new found friends for dinner, but we all agreed it was time for a quick nap.
